Once you have been matched with a potential birthmother, she can still change her mind about placing her child for adoption until after the birth. What warning signs in a domestic adoption placement should adoptive parents look for that the placement might fall through and the birth mother decides to parent rather than place the child for adoption?

  • Hi Saffron49. Both domestic and international adoptions are wonderful ways to create a family and to provide homes for children who need them. They are definitely differences between the two, and they appeal to different people. Many many families are created each year in the US by domestic adoption.

  • Isn't pandering and soliciting for a fetus from an unsuspecting vulnerable pregnant girl or woman against the law?

  • This is why many people prefer international adoption. The children are true orphans and desperately need loving families.

I have completed successful international adoptions and would never consider domestic adoption for creating a family. Most birthparents choose to parent as it is easy to make an adoption plan while you are still pregnant, but much harder to relinquish a baby once it is in your arms.
