We developed this cube to demonstrate scientific principles and educate the public about how much energy goes into the things we take for granted every day such as transportation. The cube itself is estimated to weigh 500 lbs but is still easy to propel on level ground. An original goal is to experiment in a desert environment to gauge the possibility of creating a portable environment that is more comfortable than the raw desert, without relying on a noisy polluting generator.

  • Very cool concept. I've been thinking lately about freezing ice cubes with human power. Do you think the Borg Cube could do it?

  • Absolutely, I think we can do it. It is likely we will need to spend some time testing and making adjustments, but it is almost certainly not impossible. We will be working on it over the next ten months to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the system. Even with average or poor efficiency, as long as the cooling chamber is effectively insulated, it WILL get colder, even past the freezing point for water.
