Open Embedded Linux Entertainment Center, or OpenELEC for short, is a small Linux distribution built from scratch as a platform to turn your computer into a complete XBMC media center. OpenELEC is designed to make your system boot as fast as possible and the install is so easy that anyone can turn a blank PC into a media machine in less than 15 minutes. OpenELEC is a linux based embedded operating system with a size of around 70MB (OS + XBMC + all other needed tools/programs)

Did you install OELEC on an SD card or on the USB key you have there?

Why does your pi look so different than my pi? My Ethernet and USB connections are right next to each other, yours appear to be on different sides of the device...is this an early beta board?

I have tried 2 varents of XMBC OpenElec being probably the best of all. Saddly I just don't see this working out. While its close the Pi is just far to slow be usuable. Video playback is fine until you try to do something else. Menus work so so, but the lag is just horrible, The pointer freezes for minutes at the time, yes Minutes. I know this all alpha/beta and such but I just don't think you can expect 256M Ram and 700 some odd mhz to do the job. Piei's great toy, but media center no.

Come on, I like the idea and great work. But the performance looks far to slow and would be very frustrating. How would it handle a decent movie collection?

the fact Raspberry Pi can run XBMC (OpenELEC) and play FHD video is a big thumbs-up to the Raspberry guys, but mostly a huge standing ovation to the programmers behind this super-light, genius piece of optimized code called XBMC media center.
