The only way to punish these media giants is a protracted war in which millions of people stop purchasing their goods/services fora very long time.

This will severely cripple them financially, and since the way their goods and services are made, a few of these media giants that fail will not hurt the economy that much.

Only the media moguls, executives, and investors are affected, which I could care less if their financial futures get ruined.

Illegally downloading music is wrong, but when we know how to we all do it. For all of those bands that he downloaded, they wouldn't actually earn a lot of money if he had bought the albums, most of the money would go to the label. Bands make most of their money from touring because labels own a large percentage of the income from record sales. The positive outcome of Illegally downloading music is the publicity, it gets your music out and gives you a slightly larger audience bit by bit.
