  • @jendel42750 I liked them in appearance before the graffiti scourge and the overhaul in the 80s...especially the Brightliners and the R-38s

  • @mikethegent About 1/3rd of the fleet is still here today, and the remaining ones are expected to undergo light overhauls. But I agree.

  • @alexweb8 With the way the MTA works, I would bet on it. I wouldn't be surprised if the MTA runs them on the Second Avenue Subway when it opens, just for historical sake.

  • Hope I get some for my next NYC trip in 2 years time ,,,,

  • @AEMoreira81 Which cars will replace them on the C line?

  • @AndreDevecserii Probably for another 5 years, at which point they would be 51 years old.

240 of these cars are still running.

  • Chicago CTA are about to be in process to retire their 1969-1970 Budd Cars that operates on "Blue Line"

  • Right on, mikethegent! The R-32s and R-38s rocked! They were the best of both worlds: lightweight stainless steel bodies and heavy-duty mechanicals! They'll be surely missed!

  • The R32 is the best! I hope that they will keep these running for as long as possible.

  • How long will the R32's remain in service? Because they are still the only ones to operate on the C line. It's really a shame that they will be scrapped, they are the last trains giving any kind of nostalgic feeling. They are a symbol of NYC.
