I don't think the maggots are a mistake, I think it's a very clever way of calling labour supporters lice haired maggots, which you wouldn't get away with on it's own, so posing maggots as lice covers the issue, although I could be wrong, but British comedy is full of sneaky hidden punch lines like this :)

@Axxeleration84 Obviously but lice would be very difficult to pickup on film and stil have the desired affect. Plus maggots can be easily brushed off an actor's head, lice less so.

At least the lice are very respectful of national borders and so keep politely out of the Republic of Ireland.
