This is my V1U right out of the box, default settings. I use Windows and Sony Vegas to edit.

  • I also have a v1u, I can't seem to get sharp images out of it, i don't know if the problem is with the conversion when I import (I use capture now in final cut pro with the apple intermediate 1080i60 codec). if you can answer me, how are you importing and exporting your videos from your v1u to get this quality for your final result? and what codec do you use?

  • @jmarcoj1 Not sure. I use Windows and Sony Vegas to edit.

  • @ncmach1 which sony vegas do you use?

  • @StayGoldgcode Vegas Pro 9

  • @LaCostaFilms Sounds like you need to choose "new project" in FCP then set your desired video template before you load your video. Could be whatever the default FCP is set at without you specifying could be way off.

A great forum to ask in is over at dvxuser.com/V6/forumdisplay.php?97-HDR-FX7-HVR-V1U

There is people over there with much more knowledge than me.

  • @ncmach1 also, do you know how to control depth of field on this camera?

  • @ncmach1 i have the same cam and i have a question. whenvr i am editing footage (fcp), it looks great in my timeline viewer, but as i expand it the quality rapidly deteriorates. i think that it is something to do with the way i import it, like i import it too small. i know u dont use fcp but do u know what i can do to fix it?

  • @shizzel8590 Did you buy one- What was the conclusion? everyone keeps talking about it now working in lowlight?

  • looks amazing. I am thinking about buying a v1u? would you reccomend it over other sony camcorders?

are there specific settings that you exported it as to get that nice 720 and 1080 quality?

  • Probably the fact that the second is shot in the direct sunlight.
