  • i have a saddlebred mare.did it take long to train him?

  • this video was taken last summer he has gotten a lot better sense then... i retrained him from saddleseat to hunter it took about a year or two. that was the begining of our training. now we have jumps and standards hahah, he jumps 2'9 now he wins all the jumping classes at our local shows now.

  • Aww so cute I just bought a saddlebred. He looks like he's havin a blast

  • Thanks, yeah when i first bought ranger everyone told me it was a mistake b/c he is a saddlebred and they told us we wouldn't ever make it but we proved em all wrong i wish you the best of luck!!!

  • ya i know he over jumped it the first time. lol

ya my saddle dosn't rub me if i wear half chaps.

i have a jumper/dressage saddle maybe thats the reason?!?

  • love your horse!! i have 2 saddlebreds with. I did saddle seat with them for a long time, and then i decided it may not be the best for them, so i started working with them in dressage. we have been doing it for a year and we r still not perfect, but i have a blast with them. soon were trying western! keep up the good work. saddlebreds are the best!!!

  • You may try breeches and a helmet...lol. And have a wider jump (fence post with buckets on either side) and get in 2 point over jumps. And have a slower more even pace. It just takes time and practice; you'll get it! :)

  • when approaching the jumps have an even pace. and one suggestion is WEAR A HELMET SILLY!

  • Seeing this horse really encourages me! I have Saddlebred mare, rescue, that I'm working with. I love her to death, and I know she's going to do really well some day. Ranger and you look like a great pair!!!

  • I'm so glad to see that there are other people out there so interested in the American Saddlebred as a jumper :] It's not very popular but I think they make wonderful hunters and jumpers. They are most definitely my favorite breed. I just love their whole anatomy and temperaments. Never a dull moment with a Saddlebred. and I am glad to hear you have come such a long way with your guy, going to have to look at other vidoes.

  • how old was he when you started teaching him to jump, because me and my friends saddle bred is jumoing 4 foot at age 4

  • awe, makes me jellous that i cant ride my saddlebred foal yet!

  • i used to jump my saddlebred!

  • Saddlebreds r great jumpers! Don't let anyone tell you they can't do something because they r a Saddlebred. They can do anything. They are eventers, dressage horses, endurance horses, they can do Saddleseat, combined driving, fine harness, hunters, they barrel race, work cows, trail ride...show me any other breed that can compete in all those disciplines. People just don't know anything about them except what they see in the Saddleseat world which gets all the attention. That's versatility!

  • Awesome! Thats certainly way better than my saddlebred jumping! he canters so slow western but when we gets to jump he wants to like run away haha. great to see saddlebreds doing all sorts of things!
