The term "throw me overboard" comes from the old testament where God sent Jonah to a city to preach and Jonah wouldn't go; he set sail on a ship to some other place and a God sent a storm and everybody crew on the ship was afraid and found Jonah to be the reason for the storm so they threw him overboard and the stor ceased.
