this from 1964 shows just what a phenomenal vocalist she had already become rather than the label of entertainer that is sometimes her tag. I have never heard this song better and just with piano too!
*neid*
I love Shirley Bassey's rendition of this beautiful song! The only other versions that I love are from Frank Sinatra and Billie Holiday. Shirley Bassey sings with only a piano backing her up and you can hear all of her raw, powerful vocals coming from her small figure. There is also a studio version that is just as beautiful as this. Thanks Thorneycroft for posting this!
Love Billie Hollyday's cover better, but Dame Shirley Bassey's voice is God Send.

Beautifully sung by Dame Shirley. Especially like the early Shirley pictures. Nice seeing her with Englebert. ----- Elena

This is lovely,
I have to say, I did not like some of Shirleys work in 1966-67...
I thought she got louder and noisy, maybe working in America doing Show numbers!
This was as i said...lovely,and to me from 1969 she got better and better..the 70s proved that.
