I wish this game was for the PS3, I would drop $50 on this game. but it sucks that the are working with steam. They are the most unreliable network to have ever existed. Why do I need to be online to play offline singe player! But over all RO2, 5 stars! Steam... go to hell!

@Tand0oriCh1cken I do believe it is necessary to get to know firearms. Once you understand the components, you can then experiment with mic placements, etc.

@tehgreatjpg1234 Correct, AK74 isn't a WWII weapon. We used it to test where the best sound recording spot would be. Hoped you looked ahead in this video for the Real WWII weapons. :-)

Even in an open environment you still have some echo from the environment, the very nearby hills and such. Do you compensate or filter or just rely on the mic insulation? Or are you counting on the natural echo in the recording to be used to simulate the natural echoes in say an urban environment?
Generally, you would use one rich sound as the Foley for a first person and a different one with effects filters applied for third person in the distance. Did you make separate recordings for these?

@ChocoBilly We use all types of microphones pointing at the weapons, pointing opposite, and other directions to capture all the possible sounds (with and without reflections). There are various methods during editing to have dry and wet sounds with EQ and Plugins. Using this many channels gives us the flexibility to do everything we want for 1st person as well 3rd person perspectives.
