Self-balancing electric motorised skateboard with twin wheels. Radio control unit for steering. Stabilised by combination of gyroscope and accelerometer. Lithium battery from e-bike. First outdoor test. Much lighter than previous machine and more like an electric skateboard. Can turn on the spot.

The "point" of course is the same reason the Wright brothers tried for years to build something that flew - to see if they could do it, have a laugh and learn something along the way.

Come to think of it, it is just as well YouTube didn't exist back then during all their early failed (pointless) tests. They would probably have just given up.

@XenonJohnD - nah, they wouldn't have given up because they wouldn't be on Youtube caring what people think... the people that are sitting at home behind their computers making comments about stuff instead of getting out there and building it like yourself. i actually gotta give you props. this is a cool idea. i can see it still needs a little work but i can definately see a potential use for this. right now though, i'd have to agree, it doesn't have a major point to it... yet
