Hey justin. Firstly mate, I love your work. We go to fraser every year for the annual tailor run, and have been experimenting with the metal lures. So far have been using 45g metals, and just wondering if smaller to medium size tailor will hit the 65g aswell?

@hodgysurf Hey hodgysurf, On the bigger rods 40g Knights, they are brilliant on tailor, queenfish, trevally. I throw 65 Knights if I need additional distance, but they are harder work if doing a fair bit of spinning. Small to med fish still hit 65g when they are feeding but if spooky because of sharks/ other predators smaller chromies are better & I even switched to 1/2oz jigheads & 4" Gulp Minnows when they shut down. Last trip 101cm queeny on 20g & 100.5 30lb GT on a 40g :) Cheers Justin

So look for where there is plenty of foam when the surf is crashing? around where the darker blue spots are?

@willatunswa82 Ideal spots have water coming over a back bank, creating foam and washing into a deep blue gutter. Fish will often come over the back bank with an incoming tide as there is more water over the bank. Look out for gutters that have a break in the back bank allowing fish to travel into the gutter at all tides.

Gutters are deep sections of water that form between the beach & an outer bank. Waves breaking on an outer bank will create white foamy water that rolls into the gutter. Hit the foam with your lure & you will often get fish, they patrol the inside edge of the bank using the foam as cover. Find a break in the outer bank, usually no breaking waves & the water is sucking out to sea, gold! Fish will use this as an entry to the gutter & feed in this turbulent water & smash disorientated baitfish.

Yes absolutely, reefy breaks can be great fish magnets. Depending on the depth of the structure try to ensure that you close your bail arm before the lure has a chance to come into contact with the submerged reef. The idea of a chrome lure (slice) is to work up on, or very near the surface of the water column. If you can ensure that you don't let the lure sink too far and get your lure up to speed quickly then you shouldn't loose too many lures and in turn, catch plenty of fish!

do u know any good fishing spots near perth WA ??!!

can I use these spinning metal lures on night or do I have to use it on day only ??!!

also are they good in marine harbor or just from beach and against the tide ?!!
