@utee72 As I recall those two locos in the movie were ex-CNW GP9Rs # 4303 in the lead and possibly #4308 tailing 4303 followed by covered hoppers. They are currently owned by or leased from the Gulf, Colorado, and San Saba Railroad.

I volunteered(call Austin Steam Train in Austin) in 1996 initially as a car attendant and later became a crew chief responsible for all onboard passenger services(all passenger and concession cars). I'm still active and onboard 2-3 days a month. It's a great way to spend some pleasant hours on the high iron(OK steel these days). FYI the movie "The Newton Boys" was filmed with our help as well using our now in repair steam engine 786.

Wasnt the car/train head-on collision from the movie" Courage Under Fire" filmed about 3 miles west of Bertram?

@skullcrusher301 Yes it was and with our engineer and head end brakeman but using a leased diesel loco. The movie folks crunched three brand new Ford mustangs to get those scenes.

Thanks for your friendly feedback!
FYI The Nickel Plate Road(Later NYCtl RR) named it's westbound passenger train from Buffalo to Chicago the "City of Chicago".
Of course there was also a train from Chicago to Buffalo and it was named??.....
Wrong!-not "City of Buffalo" but "City of Cleveland"..See Wiki for good history of the Nickel Plate Road.
