....How does this owner even know what the slow loris needs to survive? Has he studied the animal? or did he just think it was cute and buy it on a whim? For the people who say it is dangerous for them in the wild, the only reason it is dangerous is because poachers kill these animals, to take their babies and sell them as pets, so if you have bought one of these as a pet or if you support having them as pets, YOU are the reason these animals are becoming extinct.

I'm sorry but every person who has commented that the slow loris is better off in captivity than in the wild is a completet idiot! I think you all need to step outside your pampered apartmants for a moment and take a look at how the world really works.Animals as a rule do not want to be domesticated, dogs and cats domesticated themselves, it was not forced upon them. the wilderness may seem like a dirty, scary place to you, but it is these creatures home and it has everything they need.....

With all due respect the Loris should never be domesticated. The ritual involves their vital teeth pulled out, leaving the loris not capable to re-enter the wild. They close their eyes because they are sensative to light. The slow loris should not endure human entertainment..

I'm a biologist, here's what I think. So many people are talking about how it doesn't matter if they go extinct- they can be domesticated. Cats and hamsters were, blabla.. Well, let me first of all say we are facing a RANGE of ecological problems today - all man-made- because of introducing alien species, domesticating wild animals, and breeding animals in captivity. Second, these animals have a part in a food-web. Taking a species out of a food-web almost always leads to severe consequences.
