  • It's not a power swing certainly, but it's contolled and repeatable.

Remember, you can have too much lag.

  • @miltongoswell; Did I ever say that lag was bad? The more the better. But, I'd say that the rubber wound balls, the persimmon woods, and the ancient irons that had about 4 degrees more loft in 1955 is totally different than in 2011 with titanium drivers, plastic balls, and strong lofted irons. The proof? Hogan 9 majors. Howell and Sergio none. If Hogan were alive today his swing would NOT be exactly the same due to equipment. He'd adjust accordingly, with a bit less lag and more upright motion.

  • @preppyboi84 actually, look at a slow mo of ben hogan's swing He had almost more lag than any pro, ever, and he is known as one of the best ball strikers that ever lived. but who listens to ben hogan, i mean how many tournaments did he win, right?

  • I think he has still got one of the most fluid swings on tour. Despite being 43. And as for his putting stroke...you cant buy that!! Hell, Tiger Woods cant even buy that.

  • kjackboy1 . check driving accuracy....from 9 to 3 he swings the club about as good as ir gets. 33 million out on tour is alot better than most needless to say. and why would you use charles howell or sergio although they have great motion what have they done to influence you that they swing the club properly

  • (continued) Yes you lose distance when you cast it like that but you do have better distance control with your irons than a Charles Howell or a Sergio that keep a ton of angle (more than 90 deg.). They de-loft it so much on the way thru. Maybe that's why Toms has won a major and they haven't yet. Point is there are many ways to play great golf, dudes.

  • Kjackboy is right. And yes I'm a (real) pro. Toms does lose a lot of lag because he slides a bit forward on the thru swing. But he does 3 things that most amateurs don't do when they cast it. His clubhead approaches the ball from the inside right on plane. His left wrist is flat or slightly bowed at impact, great position. His rotation thru the shot is excellent. His shoulders are slightly open at impact, not because he came over the top but because they are rotating so quickly.

  • @ocobb4 he casts i am so sorry that you cant see it. he loses lag as soon as he starts down swing, i know you are so much cooler online and i truly feel sorry for you. Since you have studied the swing hahaha sad sad sad that you cant see it. watch somebodies swing like sergio who gains lag and doesnt lose it like your boy dt. david toms hits it like a bitch sorry but has good tempo i guess never said he was a bad player

  • haha you are all sad, i wont comment on another video because retards like you guys comment on them. If you cant actually see obviously casts the club just like Ernie Else does when he is swinging it bad. I feel for all you idiot who are so much cooler online. Claiming that you study the golf swing, eat a dick and quit lying, if anyone knows anything when they see a golf swing they will say, this pro as awesome as he is, casts the club at the top. We all have our opinions

  • @kjackboy1

You have serious problems. Please check into your local Lakeside center. David Toms does not cast, flip, or make any such motion to where he loses his lag coming into the ball. If you knew anything, you would say that DT lags it well. You are a moron. I know what I'm talking about because I have studied the swing and I understand the imperatives that make a swing work. You don't.

    The Lakeside number is: 1-800-232-LAKE.
