Hey! Who's the eye-candy? Looks like Rosemary Clooney! It's norma Zimmer, I would guess. This arrangement is actually really, very hip, considering it's Lawrence Welk. If I had only heard the audio I would not have guessed that it was Lawrence Welk with that (cha-cha) beat in the beginning. And then it just seamlessly slides right on into that into that swing part, and then back again. Lawrence welk was a musial genius, that's what he was.

Just wonderful; I enjoyed it so

Lawrence Welk was definitely "Behind-The-Scenes" in his social style (term c/o Dr. Linda V. Berens) and for him to get up like that at all in public was a challenge. But he let his musical arrangements and his performers speak for him and together they helped make his name in history. I remember watching him when young with my mother and I always appreciated his show.

This is my *Lawrence Welk jam*.
I recently heard it on one of the 70's reruns with the same arrangement and I've had the syncopated brass section in my mind ever since.
For all of his straight laced, somewhat awkward Stage Persona, Lawrence Welk was one Gifted Musician. His Orchestra "nailed" it every time. I never knew (as a kid growing up in the '70's) just how good they really were, or just how right Grandma was about him being the best. I miss him sorely and am thankful for the many recordings of his superior talent. Thanks for this historic post!
