Sean doing a mix, using an Empirical Labs DerrEsser and a Dramastic Audio Obsidian on the piano.

High quality versions of this and other videos can be found at: http://www.methodsandapplicationslaboratory.com/html/videos.html

Please watch the HQ version or visit our web site: the audio on the low-quality version renders the demo nearly useless.

The song is "Cry" by Jim Gambino.

  • @glict ah - that's different. That's as an artist/producer. The days of in house mixers though - that was they hey day of Bob Ohlson and the like. Guys like Czenzo, CLA, Moulder, Blake etc - all freelance.

  • @narcoman2 Oh there are in house trust me. A friend of mine is an in house producer for Koch Records. DJ Toomp is a producer signed to Atlantic. List goes on and on

  • @glict sure - but no ones in house anymore. Trusted - sure. I can go along with that.

  • @narcoman2 ppl who work for the label who are trusted by the label to make the record sound a certain way

  • @glict house engineers?

  • @semiLivedj That's the artist and producers job. The engineer just makes it sound as polished as possible. Once again. A good mix can make or break the song. But they aren't thinking about radio. They think "is this the best it can sound?"

  • @glict but what you hear on the radio is main stream and what sells,so you dont find yourself compressing the hell out of it just like what you hear on the radio.modeling your mix like to what sells,I think you do because its a business and you have to compete.

  • @semiLivedj Radio doesn't have influence on anything. Labels do. That's why they have house engineers that work for the label. And a good mix can make or break the song

  • IMHO when you surround your self w nothing but WHITE HIPSTERS you're going to get that ... Hahahaha

  • @sacramentomuzik lol, its funny and true. I have yet to hear an amazing production there. But then again I think they do this for fun, and just to satisfy the gear lust, thats the reasoning. Cause the quality really sucks.....its just the truth....
