There was another ident which involved a caveman, a lady aviator (Amy Johnson perhaps?) and an astronaut. I'm not sure if that one was introduced in '93, or if it was introduced later before this set of idents' run came to an end at the end of '96. I liked the countdown music on this set, and also the music on the '97-'99 countdown involving a line of kids.

These were definitely unsettling, but I loved them. I used to wish the BBC would do something similar.

What I mean is, looking back, the music could have been perceived as a little creepy... I just never saw it that way.
I loved these too, especially counting down to when the programme started; little pleasures lost in the vacuum of time. Thanks for sharing this!

I think the lady in shot 2 is supposed to be Mary Seacole (better known as the Black Florence Nightingale) and the man at the end is Beethoven
These idents were supposed to be scary? I loved them when I was 4!
Great childhood memories of filing into the school library to watch the schools programs.
