Making a pre drafted roving makes spinning easier, this is very simple and you can do it from a carded batt of wool! Take the pre drafted roving and roll into a ball to happily take your spinning with you anywhere. REMEMBER IF YOU WISH IT SMOOTH TAKE OUT TINY SLUBS, IF YOU WISH ART YARN LEAVE BUMPS IN.

  • Hi, I noticed you love alpaca fibers. I have 3 champions, 2 of whom won at large fleece shows. If you are still looking for some special alpaca to spin send me an email or comment. I just traded 5 pounds of fine alpaca blanket, light fawn for a hitchhiker spinning wheel. I am watching the videos because I hope to get up to speed for a Spinning Exotic fibers at the Taos Wool Festival. Thanks for your video.

  • So glad it helped you. I occasionally will draft from a "blob" of fiber in my hand and spin it that way but I find if I want consistency that this way is best and quite relaxing too! Thanks so much and please subscribe if you like! blessings, grace in VT

  • Thanks Karen!! I am working on one for how to make tiny felted balls. I still have to get someone to film me spinning by hand spindle. Thank you so much for watching my videos! blessings, grace Ps. subscribe to mine if you like!

  • My lazy kate is really simple--just a wooden rectangle with rubber "feet" to keep it from slipping, and two lengths of dowel stuck in the rectangle. The bobbins go onto the dowels & turn pretty freely, or you can use a rubber band under the bobbins to tension them slightly. If you're plying from handspindles, maybe you could do the same thing, but push the copps off onto paper quills & put the quills on the dowels? Anyway, a kate like that might be easy to make as a replacement for yours. :)

  • I am so happy! I had to learn a lot on my own for I learned to spin 20 years ago. Yet, weekly I learn something new with spinning!!

I am having issues PLYING as my lazy kate broke. Any creative ideas outthere??

    thank you viewers!
