@felicia1980star Well, LG actually fashioned his Bonanza character after his own father. Raised by a large, rough & tough man with a huge heart & sometimes not-so-gentle huge hands made LG the perfect father of 3 grown sons. Born in Canada, raised on hard times, LG grew to be a great man & according to him, was in the right place at the right time to be cast as big Ben Cartwright. It was his size, strength, voice, looks & courage that landed him the role of a lifetime. And we are all greatful!

@jehukjehe I remember reading that PR and LG were very close friends, but I am sure that all 4 men were very good friends. At least from a lot of the old pictures that were taken from Bonanza it seems that the 4 actors got along well. From what I understand PR left Bonanza because he had disagreements with the directors, but got along well with the other actors.
