  • love the music.. thanks for the video

  • Gawd, what do the dumb people think the crowd control barriers are for!? Leaning on the wrong side of them? D'oh.

  • The first march is my favourite "Sarafand" composed by Major Willcox! and followed by "The Kings Guard" and the second band enters playing "Guards Armoured Division" then followed by "The Kings Guard"

  • He is an NCO. NCOs range from lance-corporal to Colour Sergeant. Although you can't see his right arm and chevrons I would guess he's a Lance Sergeant therefore he's a junior NCO. What would be truly remarkable would be to have a Drummer (a private in the Corps of Drums) acting as Drum Major.

  • Yes I know! :)

BTW, you made a typo, he's not an NCO as you yourself have said.

Thanks for the info but I already know most of this, I think. :P heh

  • You are correct, Drum Major is an appointment not a rank. In the Foot Guards, it is normally held by someone between the ranks of Sergeant and W.O.2. The appointment is marked by the red tunic with the gold lace, a gold inverted four-bar chevron on the lower right sleeve and the holder of the appointment wears a sword. The person in this video is a Grenadier Corps of Drums NCO acting as Drum Major for this one particular occasion. He does not hold a Drum Major's appointment himself.

  • From what I know, being a drum major in the British Army is a title or appointment.

    So yeah...

  • Yes that's what I meant, a lower rank acting as a drum major.

  • He's not actually a Drum Major at all. I know there were some "sightings" of a Scots Guards Drum Major wearing a regular Corps of Drums tunic but this chap is a Grenadier. He's not wearing a SNCOs sash, a Drum Major's crossbelt or a sword. At the most he's a Lance Sergeant who happens to be filling in.

  • There's that newbie drum major I've seen in other videos.
