i believe it was the Scottish who made the Ghillie suit first. and sniping was first done in India, by the natives who taught the English to shoot what else but the Snipe.

@WhatWouldDimeDo and yeah I have a thing about open ended disputes, other than that, I never paid attention to the date, I never read my comment section until lately, so i responded.

@WhatWouldDimeDo A Barrett M107A1 yes....the same weapon, I asked what round he was firing when I asked, APIT(Armour Piercing Incendiary Tracer), which is the same grain weight no matter what, I asked what his hold off was, he gave the distance of 3000 meters. Dope would be the change yes, but the change according to the conditons, i was looking for an answer like this "at 3000, i'm up 50 minutes, left 40 for a full value at 15 at 300, full value left to right at 700, etc.

@twinturbocobra You had a year to draft your reply and you still make no sense? What would it matter what he adjusted the scope for unless you were there and going to shoot right after him? Unless that was the situation then his "dope on the gun" would be useless to you because you wouldn't have the same weapon, projectile, distance, wind, temperature, etc. I still can't believe you wrote back after a year.

@WhatWouldDimeDo So apparently you didnt realize in my comment that i know what the fuck I'm talking about . The "Dope on the Gun" refers to the amount of adjustment put on the optics of the weapon to fire at the range he has stated. given that most .50 cal rounds have lost MOA'd out the weapons optics at 2500 meters, I want to know what his hold-off was. also known as "Kentucky Windage". Ive fired at 2000 meters and I know how difficult that shot is even for an experienced shooter.

@SmokeRises are you sure I heard it was the english and the snipe was actually a small bird and very hard so the people who were exceptional shots were known as snipers because they had the ability to shoot them the term came around I thought in WWI. Americans really never got the concept of sniping until many years later to conventional thinking

Could have done without the noise.

@twinturbocobra Your question makes no sence.
"What was the dope on the gun?"
Obviosly it was AOK because he hit the target.
