Gambyong Pareanom Pt 1

The dance expresses the emotional state of a young woman in love. Originally, it was performed "to get things going" at the beginning of traditional dancing an drinking party at which men would drink alcohol an dance with professional dancers through the night. Some of the dance-movements are no representational (kembangan, from kembang "flower"), while others represent a woman dressing and preening herself as she expects her lover . The dance movements closely interact with the drumming. A combination of joyful flirtatious playfulness with a courtly refinement characterize this dance.

Yes, this karawitan have no "gambang"... and also "sindhen". For all I know, the speciality of gambyong music dance is that "sindhen" voices and sings.

Is the dancer have a Yogyakarta Style dance? Her performance was very good but that style was still look very 'heavy' :-))

Wow Singa Nglaras get better and nicer. Congratulation, you have a good suling player now. It is not many javanese gamelan suling player though, especially out side Indonesia.

Unfortunately I can't hear gambang.
