  • I really love this album. I wish it had done more back when it was released so that perhaps Ms. Khan would have felt encouraged to record more songs in this genre. I believe that she could be one of the all-time greats in this vein. Along with people like Billie, Ella, Sassy and Carmen.

  • A yes,she is also one of the best jazz vocalists ever. For me she represents the next step in the evolution of female vocal improvisors from Ella to Sarah to Betty Carter to Dee Dee Bridgewater. For me, she is more natural than Dee Dee. I don't like Dee Dee's wide vibrato.

  • Wow. I love her funk, pop, soul... but damn, she could have done nothing but jazz and been really, really important there too.

  • This was all an one take recording-even at the end where it sounds like Chaka Khan's voice seem to crack...it was perfect!

  • just look at the line up for this album!! a congregation of top class talents!

  • Beautiful sound... like poetry itself... as refreshin as a fountain. Love Chaka's pipes.
