endothelium can be seen with regular slitlamps and often has interesting features like the cell drop out in this patient

  • Hello Ramesh,

I am not a dr. but simply an Optometrist. Has the zeiss yag laser slit lamp a maximum zoom of 40X? Did you simply hold the Sony camera on the eye piece or did you attach the Sony with an adaptor? Best reg Marc

  • Hi Marc

The zeiss has a max zoom of 32X. I held the sony on the ocular and zoomed in to the area of specular reflection. An adaptor was not used..

    Regards

    RD

  • Hello. This is a very clear image of the endothelium. I only have 40x magnification on my CSO slit lamp. The view of endothelium through my slit lamp is very small and not so clear. Please suggest.

  • Dear Doc,

This is how it was done. I used the sony video camera on the eye piece with max. optical zoom. The resultant image is better than that seen with the naked eye. The primary image is from my Zeiss yag laser slit lamp and the image quality is good.

a film on this method was presented in 2003 at ascrs "Digital video of the eye"

    have fun

    Ramesh

  • That is interesting Marc. Here in the United States optometrists are physicians/doctors specializing in the eye. Optometrists can even do surgery in two states :)
