A really short and general video showing the location and distance of a wireless network bridge I did for a client here in Vernon, B.C. Sorry nothing really too amazing or technical here in this video, but at least shows the distance these things can go. They can go a lot farther even with other Ubiquiti hardware, but the little nice nanostations work very well. Look at my other video for the unboxing on my channel! Dont forget to subscribe!

  • Hello @mikemegabits, my brother doesn't have access to internet where he lives, about 1.5km away from my house. The only problem is that I can only see part of his building because another building is in the way. I just discovered this things existed so I'm not sure that this will work if I don't have a perfect line of sight. Can you help with this one? Thanks in advanced!!

  • @jmkoury You can mount these things to anywhere in the area there is line of sight, and then just run a wire to the building that needs network. :) Or you can go with M2's and use the wireless hotspot on the unit itself to connect to a network inside the building without the cable, if its a shorter distance from where you would mount the antenna at the far location.

  • what do you use most LOCO'S,AIR-GRIDS,NANOSTATION M5'S,NANO BRIDGE,

    which works the best?

i use mostly now loco's and air grids on 5 GHZ

  • @Palestinian0101 I've used these M5's but I also did an install in a campground with Nanostation m2's and they worked awesome for wifi all over the park. Four of them with only one one wired to the network and they cover the whole area awesome.

  • @Palestinian0101 If i had to do a long range point to point, I would use the dish type setups. They look awesome.

  • Would have got much higher speeds if you used grids, wouldn't have cost any more although mounting wouldn't be as trivial.

  • @HWGuyEG Maybe so... As a matter of fact I went back later and moved the one at his business outside near the roof, and got a better signal. The windows do cut the signal a little. (Glass can reduce signals). I just called him last week and its been working great for him ever since. No callbacks for service. He loves it and is saving tons of dough for not having to pay for a second DSL at his business.

So he's using it like 3G he can go anywhere in the house and just plug the poe in to the wall and he's using a nano-loco like a (nano 3G) lol :)

  • @mikesmegabits

also we used 2 before and it worked ok but it's a bit strange after using 5,

the lower you go the better,by one guy we put a nano-loco M2 inside he's house not even facing out the window, but facing the total opposite way which is to the pointing up to the roof and it gets about -65 signal strength when putting it facing to the tower out the window its about -87 to -95 ,

  • @mikesmegabits by the way how tall is your tower,

and do u have 2 and 5 on the same tower?

  • @mikesmegabits

Over here in Ontario(Richmond Hill), I've bonded together DSL and Cable lines into a single fast connection and I'm sharing it with 2 neighbours with two NSM5s on my roof.

In an area like where you are there's no line of sight problems so you could have a small tower provide internet to the whole valley for cheap.

    Two DSL(5.3/.667) and 1 Cable(23/.95) gives me a connection speed of 33.6/2.282.

4.2 MBps is fast enough for 2 1080p IPTV streams.
