Disc was stuck inside my PS3 for quite some time. It is the Launch 60GB model. Made this video for anyone else who may have the same problem. Also this is for all my guys at pspiso.com. Wonderful bunch of people. Check them out.

ALSO: I tried using the 'Force Eject' or 'Fan Test' method and it failed. So this video is for the people who have tried other ways to get the disc out and are resorted to open the system up and get that stubborn disc out!

//EDIT//
Alot of people have asked how the drivers license got in there.
My son, who likes to do what daddy does, decided to put my wife's license in there. He was not even two at the time. So yea, he didn't know any better.

Thanks for the support everyone!

  • is the white disc holder supposed to just sit in the hole or is supposed to be attached to something or put under something ?

  • @TheRealNeoChic It took me a minute to figure that one out too. It's been over a year since I have taken it apart, but from what I remember, I believe it just sits on top. Sorry it took so long to get back to you, just got internet back.

  • @dulnik3185 ya i went back to the video and watched as you took it out before you took it fully apart and put it back in the way it was there and it wont eject or read discs now lol...so went and got a new ps3 lol ( pretty sure the drive was failing already thou as iyt had started to take a couple trys occasionally to eject a disc) 4 years man 4 years :P

  • @TheRealNeoChic Wow. I would have just bought a new BR drive instead of a whole new system. But I am afraid now that is not the case. My PS3 is constantly freezing when playing games and Blu-Rays. It's been a fun 5 years.

  • Oman you got me at that ribbon :( I got no Idea what needs pressing to pop that out

  • @InitialTune The small black strip. That's holding the cable down. take a small, flat head screwdriver and use it to GENTLY pry it up. All you need is a small amount of pressure, please be careful to not break it! Good luck man.

  • My ps3 broke so it wouldnt turn on and I couldnt even get the disk out! It saved me £40 thanks man!

  • You saved Skyrim's life

  • Great video, i currently have a disc stuck in there and will try this as soon as i get the torx screwdriver. hopefully i can find the correct size. I would like an opinion on if i may have screwed my ps3 up though. I used a lock pick type thing to grab the disc and pull it out. i have not put a lot of pressure on it or anything but what could i possibly have significantly damaaged?

    Thank you.

  • Thank you so much man! You just saved me NZD$240! That's how much Sony's technicians were going to charge me out of warrantee to remove a damned piece of plastic that my 2yr old drop-kick of a son had shoved into the drive! I bought the machine for NZD$295 for goodness sake! Turned out to be a really easy process, but I just didn't want to go in blind. Thanks. :-)

  • Thanks man! This helped so much it was much cheaper than sending it to Sony or Gamestop to fix.

  • Awesome! Thanks for the video! I got my disk out and everything is put back together now. I just need to find a way to solve my YLOD now...
