This was our SMU engineering interdisciplinary project. Our assignment was to build and program a Lego NXT robot to autonomously find a box within an 8'x16' field, return to the starting side of the field and shoot a ping pong ball into the box.

  • The light sensor was used to detect the tape (black and silver) lines on the floor. We needed to be able to detect when we have crossed the center line (silver tape) in two different instances.

  • Compressed spring; single shot. Released by a motor that rotates to release a bar that holds the spring cocked.

  • The whole point of the first two minutes is to show you how the robot can autonomously find the box.
