Both corps got involved becuase they both won their respective championships in 87. Sunrisers did a halftime show for the Jets at Giants Stadium when Luke and his crew where there watching the game. A few days later I got a call from Larry Visconti about recording a few tracks for the video and the filming later in the week.

This was filmed in between the 86 and 87 drum corps seasons in .da Bronx.
This was a small short film that was played on an HBO special Hosted by Bette Midler. There were a bunch of other cool short films shown on this show also.
From what I understand these guys went on to be the Stomp you may know from the Broadway show Stomp.
One or more folks from Garfield Cadets/Cadets of Bergen County went on to become cast members of Stomp btw.

I am the bass drummer you see a close up of towards the end of the video. They screamed CUT during one of the takes of this section and then said hey you and pointed in my direction I didnt know if they were talking to me or not and then said you, bass drummer next time can you grit your teeth a little more 5 or 6 takes later and some groaning from a couple of the other guys/gals who had to play again and again for the sake of my 1 second of fame on HBO and we were done. ;)

Not sure how the Sunrisers / Cadets combo happened but I'm pretty sure it came down to numbers and was just a matter of finding enough bodies to fill all the required slots.

I was fortunate enough to have marched in the Garfield Cadets in 85, 86 & 87.

is this guy trying to say that he has something against playing on actual instruments?
