Judging based on past performance instead of what's in front of them.

The look on his face when he sees the score and realizes he's 4th breaks my heart. He knew he'd done his best performance and he'd had such a difficult Olympics. He so wanted to have his moment, to look up at the scoreboard that told him he's the champion. Then that. What a slap in the face. Those judges should be ashamed of themselves. How they could see that routine and feel that three others were better is beyond me. Poor kid.

Such a shame. I don't get it at all. It's one thing that he didn't win gold but nobody can convince that three people did better routines that night. Tim said it best: an outrage. Poor kid: he had such a difficult Games and he deserved something to salvage the experience. I wish the crowd had gone insane at the judges, willing them to change the score like they did for Nemov in 2004.

Ha ha. That's a common custom in Russia and other former Soviet nations. You may have noticed that women do it, as well. I'm not sure if that's the case anywhere else, though.

Nine years ago when I first watched his performance, I KNEW he deserved Gold- and he was ROBBED!!! Nine years later, I still believed he was robbed of horizontal bars Gold. Maybe the judges didn't give him the scores because he erred so many times during team competition?

Bodarenko was a very talented gymnast. In my opinion, his performances in major championships were not the best he could give. In this performance though, it is clear that he was robbed.
