The Mesopotamians invented beer, and monkeys and elephants have been eating fermented fruit to get drunk for centuries. Racing has been around much longer as well, a good example being chariot racing in Ancient Rome.

Soldiers comment is right though, Rednecks are proud patriots, and a love for ones own country is the best quality a soldier can have.
