It was the eight ball he didn't need positioning. All that he needed to do was make it and not scratch.

@sothatswhathapppened no he didnt have to hit it that hard u NEVER have to unless ur plabing on going 6 or 7 rails all he had to do was hit it normal prob. alittle more forward stroke and some top and he would had got position

Its happened to me scores of times, I think its to do with spin transfured from the cue ball to the object ball.

@8down10 did not see there was a 9 at the other end! good call!! since i know your not the shooter. why not add top right english to bring the cue back in the same position avoid something critical as this?
