This compilation of throws was after a meet. Yeah sounds stupid throwing after a meet. I messed up fouling on purpose because I didn't think the throws were far enough to qualify for finals. I was really wrong. I'm a dumbass. So if anyone can help me pick out some throwing problems I have and advice I would appreciate it.

  • Sid's advise is fine, but why 11.30? The plantfoot should optimally be 1200 once in the ground. Realistically it will be 1130-1145 but don't strive to put it in crooked (to the left; in the "bucket").

  • Thanx for the advice

  • To begin with the plant foot is to far riight it needs to hit just outside of the left shoulder and the foot needs to point 11:30 when it comes down. Next most important error is your starting the throwing action with your hand. You should hit the plant drive the hips and throw the shoulder and when you do so make the shoulder pull the javelin like hell. Don't start with the hand or arm start by bending the forearm to a closed posiition..keep it closed and drive the shoulder forward.

  • Thanx for the advice

  • right foot is landing open. work on turning your pelvis towards the vector,

this will help you get your hips through faster

  • @fahringer yeah i appreciate the help. its been a year off of throwing and i'm done. a day doesn't go by when i want to throw. the only advice i could give anyone who wants to continue throwing in college is you have to make sure they have a javelin coach. I wanted to get better but when you have someone who knows nothing about the sport training is like hitting a brick wall. it ends up killing your drive and fun. sux

  • you need a more agresive fallowthrough and also lower the angel of the throw there is to much of the face exposed good luck

  • Sam is deff. right...the more chest, hip, shoulder, and hip flexor stretching you do, the longer the pull you will get on the jav. Your right foot is also hitting parrallel to the foul line, this will make it harder for you to get onto your toe and push the right hip forward. Keep at it!

  • you are really erect and tight-looking when you throw so maybe you should work on flexibility to improve your range of motion which could give you a longer and more elastic pull

  • The reason why 11:30 is to help rotate the right hip forward something the right foot can't do by itself. Look at JZ his heel hits with the foot pointing at 12 but when it comes down it is closer to 11 which allows his hips to rotate forward and generate all his Pull.

  • It takes a relatively well-trained body to throw over 220-260 feet (65-80meters) in the javelin. I think you should spend a year trying to lose some of the fatmass and thereafter focus on approach, rhythm, and medicine ball work. Work on elastic explosiveness in the gym and not strength. Event specific of course. Also, allow me to use a cliche: One track session is more important than 5 gym sessions. Paradoxically, you seem both slightly over-weight (fat) and yet muscle bound.
