http://www.realkungfusansoo.com/store.htmThis lesson is charactoristic of the teaching from Jimmy H. Woo from the 1960s. It concentrates on entering the opponant's centerline from close range with an immediate attack. Then moving from a mid range to a longe range position by using a series of loose-swinging circular striking combinations. Increased energy through the use of these dynamics is generated by remaining loose with your upper body and pivoting in your stance as you change direction. Full body rotation enables you to strike with the force you have available from your entire body. This is an example of the instructional DVDs available through http://www.realkungfusansoo.com/store.htm

  • You've done a good job of demonstrating the elasticity of San Soo with respect to range. Long range, short range, closing the gap. I was talking to a friend the other day about how some people like to pigeonhole or limit San Soo by taking a position that it's only the big swinging Woolsey'esque San Soo, or the smaller circle "New" San Soo with all the leverages and etc. as being the one and only "true" San Soo. When in reality San Soo is both and just about everything in between.

  • You are correct in your understanding of how the art is constructed. It is a specific language system using similar principles of motion unique to Kung Fu San Soo. Old and new San Soo lessons are portions of the art that were given at certain times. In its whole, it is much broader than its parts. The concepts are to be used together with the idea of incorporating each piece as it appropriately fits into the combinations to be used in a give context. This is the essence of the term "Dap'Ga".
