Baltimore's One Green Home Foundation speaks to investors about community real estate projects and providing overview of introducing green and energy reduction into homes. Discussions of green features and benefits and the impact to home and neigborhood.
Reducing energy consumption allows families to shift household resources from utility bills to food, to clothing and to whatever other category of consumption the family elects. Reducing energy consumption, therefore, is efficient. It creates wealth.
The One Green Home at a Time Foundation is canvassing homes in NoHop (southeastern Baltimore, from North Avenue on the north to the Hopkins Hospital/Medical School complex to the south) with the intention of assisting residents in applying for and receiving weatherization funds. We are working closely with Baltimore City, the State of Maryland and Civicworks (a nonprofit involved in green job training) to make sure that residents of the area take full advantage of this opportunity.
All of One Green Home's developers are incorporating high-quality green building practices and materials. Standard green features include:
Standard green features include:
- Spray-foam insulation
- Energy efficient windows
- Aluminum oxide coated rooftops
- Exposed brick walls
- Dual tankless water heaters
- High efficiency heating systems
- Energy efficient lighting
- Energy Star appliances
- Drought-resistant plants/landscaping
Ultimately however, One Green Home's commitment to affordable green construction has prompted its developers to find new ways to adapt to a tighter budget without sacrificing quality. We have accomplished this by encouraging our contractors to make group purchases, to create detailed framing plans so as to reduce material waste, and to buy locally. Our developers also acquire many of their materials at auctions, recycling "leftovers" from other construction projects across the state of Maryland.
