I'd say it is because the generation the past 30 years were unable to see Howe in action. So watching Yzerman, grow into the player and captain of his caliber. Thats what makes him the formittable face of Hockeytown

All due respect to Gordie Howe, but I personally feel as though Stevie Y is the face of the Red Wings. Obviously it's just one humble mans opinion.

Stevie Y is on the Mount Rushmore of Detroit sports. What a classy player, a great player, a great leader. Captain for 20 years. What a guy.
Lidstrom is up there as well. He will be in the rafters in the next ten years.
