Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company (ADMA-OPCO), is a pioneering oil and gas producer whose operations date back to the 1950s, and are centred in the offshore areas of Abu Dhabi. Oil and gas production comes from two major fields Umm Shaif and Zakum. The crude is collected from these fields using giant steel structures called supercomplexes, and then transferred to Das Island, a nearby industrial base, for processing, storing and world export.

The first oil discovery in Abu Dhabi was made in 1958 in Umm Shaif and the first oil shipment exported from Abu Dhabi to the world market came out on July 4th, 1962 from the same field.
Over the years, the Company adopted the latest in drilling techniques and technologies, starting with vertical, then deviated and ultimately horizontal drilling. The advancement in drilling is necessitated by the need to optimise oil and gas production.

  • They are entirely dependent on oil.

Not a good plan if history is any indication.

  • Not entirely. Abu Dhabi is still dependant but they are in the process of diversifying their economy. A quick search on Google would show you the vast multi billion dollar projects they are undertaking. The government also has hundreds of billions of investments in Western as well as Eastern countries. The nearby emirate of Dubai is now not dependant on Oil but on finance services and tourism.

  • we need to get rid of oil dependence once and for all!need to find alternative sources of fuel

  • Yeah , Yeah, whatever.

  • There is no conincident most countries that rely on oil as their major income usually have political systems different from the west. For those people who live in those countries, oil could be their curse, rather than blessing.

  • What jibberish are you talking about? After living in the UAE as a foreigner for most of my life, Oil is their blessing. If you watch the video from start to finish, 40 years ago it was a poor desert backwater. Now it is one of the richest, most successful countries in the world. As far as Politics goes, I think they do not need Western democracy as their current political system works well and everyone is happy. I think democracy will destabilise them and be susceptible to outside powers.

  • Interesting video..

  • @sangolt88 That's cool that some nations are doing this.

  • Thanks for the info on the background!

  • Oil is good as long as it last. I live in Norway, the third or fourth largest exporter of oil. However, we now produce half as much as we did ten years ago, and we are still in decline. We now have to build a more alternative energy system for the future, and we are already gone far, 95 % of all power is now hydroelectricity for example. I hope the UAE starts to thing about the future without oil, even if its 60 years from now. Think about the children and their children again.

  • @martyr732What was that? You have a brain freeze? But honey doesn't that actually require a brain first? FUCK YOUR MOTHER &SLUTTY WHORE MARRY AND HER PENISPUFFER BASTARD SON JESUS .MAY B U DNT know- in islam both christians and hindus r called kafir,&they would kick u the same way

  • sovereign fund is world’s largest and worth $1,300bn. $1.5 trillion of funds sloshing around the Middle East, but those wealth hasn’t eradicated poverty from Muslim world. The Saudis alone hold about a trillion dollars in United States assets. They buy more U.S. made weapons than Israel even though Israelis influence the world politics. Empowerment of a community is not related to the headcount of its billionaires. Kick Indians and Hinduism out of it..
