Oil is good as long as it last. I live in Norway, the third or fourth largest exporter of oil. However, we now produce half as much as we did ten years ago, and we are still in decline. We now have to build a more alternative energy system for the future, and we are already gone far, 95 % of all power is now hydroelectricity for example. I hope the UAE starts to thing about the future without oil, even if its 60 years from now. Think about the children and their children again.

sovereign fund is world’s largest and worth $1,300bn. $1.5 trillion of funds sloshing around the Middle East, but those wealth hasn’t eradicated poverty from Muslim world. The Saudis alone hold about a trillion dollars in United States assets. They buy more U.S. made weapons than Israel even though Israelis influence the world politics. Empowerment of a community is not related to the headcount of its billionaires. Kick Indians and Hinduism out of it..

The narrator sounds like David Cameron.
They are entirely dependent on oil.
Not a good plan if history is any indication.

Not entirely. Abu Dhabi is still dependant but they are in the process of diversifying their economy. A quick search on Google would show you the vast multi billion dollar projects they are undertaking. The government also has hundreds of billions of investments in Western as well as Eastern countries. The nearby emirate of Dubai is now not dependant on Oil but on finance services and tourism.

There is no conincident most countries that rely on oil as their major income usually have political systems different from the west. For those people who live in those countries, oil could be their curse, rather than blessing.

What jibberish are you talking about? After living in the UAE as a foreigner for most of my life, Oil is their blessing. If you watch the video from start to finish, 40 years ago it was a poor desert backwater. Now it is one of the richest, most successful countries in the world. As far as Politics goes, I think they do not need Western democracy as their current political system works well and everyone is happy. I think democracy will destabilise them and be susceptible to outside powers.
