ANY law that takes an industry - NO, A NATION - by such surprise is clearly NOT a law born of the will of the PEOPLE. See my video under Power2Parents - I'm a mompreneur, citizen. I'm concerned about what the media is NOT covering. Well intentioned, poorly written - they used a meat cleaver when they could have used a SCALPEL - one size law does not fit all companies! My blog has easy action steps to fight CPSA - tristansepinion.blogspot - these are OUR children to protect, not Big Brother's.

His mention of the needs for blind, deaf, etc. is incredibly important and has been overlooked. The "mass market" does not cater well to individuals only to the center of the bell curve.

Either the folks in our government are just completely ignorant of what this means to everyone, or they are purposefully trying to destroy the economy that more individuals will rely on government programs etc... to help them comply with this thereby giving the government more control over our daily lives and systematically destroying small business in the process. This is absurd. According to this law I can't even give untested products to homeless people that would need them.

Thank you for posting this video. This CPSIA law has gone way over board. I understand we need to protect or children, but can we find a way for this law to work for both sides?

What makes you think that it is unintended?

I hope that our lawmakers didn't intend to put in place testing so expensive that the cottage handcrafter would be unable to afford it, and therefore go out of business and lose much needed income, especially in economic times like these. I am giving them the benefit of the doubt. I am hopeful they will modify or amend the CPSIA so small businesses, handcrafters and artisans making and/or selling children's items won't end up as casualties to a well-intended endeavor- protecting our children.

Trust me this is not unintended.
