A Brief Summary

Layer One (Minor):
You become lucid and then startle yourself back to waking life within seconds.

You're in a nightmare of sorts, you realise you're dreaming and choose to wake yourself up.

One or both of these criteria can be met for it to classify as One (Minor).

Layer One (Major):
You become lucid and within seconds you have a false awakening and carry on non lucid.

You become lucid and within seconds you fade to the black (not fully awake) and eventually re-enter non lucid.

One or both of these criteria can be met for it to classify as One (Major).

  • Wow these videos are great. I know I'm gonna sound like someone who's just riding a fad wave but after seeing Inception I've been on a quest to find out just what is possible within the mind and dreams, and how to control them. I've always had either no dreams ( I'm always wonder if we dream everytime we sleep and we just don't remember) or nightmares. I'm tired ot my dreams breaking up on me and not havin control, and i weirdly understand everything ur saying. Thanks fo posting :)

  • Nice descriptive videos mate! I like the way you have described the various gradations of lucidity and the excellent examples you include.

  • I HAD MY FIRST 1st layer LD, i know most of you are probably saying thats just layer one. but ive have never actually had any type of LD before. I had about 5 seperate dreams last night, and in one of them a dream charater was talking to me about a previous dream that he was not in, so i thought to myself "how do you know what happend in that dream, you wernt even there." then i realised that i was dreaming, and everying started to fade and i woke up really exited but also dissapointed.

  • Funny that I always realize that i'm dreaming and when i do i relax my self and when i finally relaxed i suddenly wake up at a way like my soul just fell back in my body and i can feel my self fall back then wake.. How do i prevent this stuffs. Some times i don't like to realize that i'm dreaming coz il always wake me up from a dream.

  • when i was younger, i once dreamt that i went over to my grandparents to get a game boy i had forgot over at there place. what "layer" is that?

  • "the black" is very odd... Trust me

  • I just now realised i was a lucid dreamer and ive been controling my dreams this whole time

  • i am glad to hear everything i have been experiencing is the exact same as yours. I have had three layer one majors in the past two weeks. Now that i know not to get too excited ill be sure to work on that. i can now remember what i want to carry out now the second i become lucid so ill remember not to fly through the clouds at 100 mph XD

  • i went into layer 1 the very first time i tried to ld. it was a nightmare. a false waking.i tried to move but couldnt there was a baby that was holding me down and when i realized it was weird that my room was all turned around is when the baby turned into a monster i told my self it was just a dream and i had to wake myself up..so i closed my eyes and threw myself upward..when i opened my eyes i was awake. but my whole body felt weird all day..like jello and weak. im scared to try ld again

  • so the other day i was trying to have a lucid dream by inducing sleep paralysis and began to hear a humming noise(really loudly at one point, like how astral projection supposedly begins).it was the strangest thing ever, i began to feel tingling all over my body and something akin to my body shifting position or transporting somewhere.anyone ever had this before?i know how it feels to enter a dream and directly become lucid as the dream begins, and i can strongly say it wasn't the same thing.

  • I've had an... odd layer one dream. My first one too. The oddest thing was, that the dream had just begun and the scene was my bed. While in my bed, everything seemed so real, but I didn't feel any gravity and all, so I at some point started to wonder if I was dreaming. (What triggered this, was that my bed broke without making a sound). I checked my hands, and they looked so real, so I got confused. "Nah probably not", but then I started thinking, and the next thing I saw was this flash. Yeah..
