Veron scored some cracking goals for united, his passing was second to none. He was just to slow for the prem. Overall he did quite good. The 01-02 season was strange season for us, we had to contend with a different shape to the team, attacking wise we were brilliant that season. We couldn't defend though. In 02-03 fergie reverted back to the original shape with solsjaer and van nistelrooy and we won the league. Veron was south American player of the year last year at age 33!!

@iloveneytiri but then how is complaining about his lack of confidence going to give carrick confidence? if all he ever reads or hears is that hes shit, i dont think his morale will lift. and his performances improved after he signed that new contract, so why is everyone still on his back?

@mattos000 I don't complain about Fletcher or Park who are superb but I complain about Carrick because he has got superb technical ability, yet seems to have as much confidence as you would expect had he been locked away by Fritzl himself for the past 5 years. Just looks devoid of confidence and character and his play reflects that.

@ordoabciao times havn't changed.. just listen to the people on the manutd forum complain about carrick, fletcher, park etc. quality players who are deemed useless by their own supporters.

then again most of those supporters are clowns.

There are 2 things that still annoy me about Veron's time in Old Trafford. We bought a world superstar and asked him to play in a position requiring speed he didn't and would never have. He was made for 4-3-3. Then our supporters started to believe the "flop" tags written by lazy football journalists who needed something to say. He's a temperamental bloke and it really upset him when fans thought he was a flop. Utd supporters should stick up for their players.

Veron would of taken the piss in the 4-3-3 after Keano left and Scholes reverted to a deeper role.

Veron Scholes Carrick with Rooney Ronaldo and Giggs ahead of them interchanging. We could do with him now.

there was never a doubt about his talent. It was just that he failed to produce such performances on consistent enough basis.
