@PuissantAlgernon you're amazing, and don't let anybody else tell you different.

I'd say that this attitude - though in many circumstances it's very wise and useful - is actually Fraulein Schneider's undoing in Cabaret. Like Benjamin the donkey in Animal Farm, she is able to see that things are starting to go wrong in Germany, but she doesn't see herself as being able to do anything about it and therefore just accepts it, even when it ruins her life and her plans of marriage later on in the story.

@ManfredDeJesus I think it get sad because of how much she changes through the play where she stops saying Who cares so what? And goes along with what the Nazi's want her to do...

I played this part in College. I loved performing this song!

My mother made me listen to this, I like it though :)

Does her inconsistent use of German inflection annoy anyone else? ... no? Just me, then.

@westsidestory97 me too, it's good isn't it!

i really like this song...

Right. Ok.
I don't think it's sad, in some ways its empowering because it means, as it says, who cares? What can damage you when you don't care?

I love this song but I never realized until I really listened to it how depressing it truly is. Settle for things instead of going for what you want, sad.
