Sabrina Herndon, a Black student at Palm Beach Gardens High School was 1.5 credits shy of a high school diploma when a male assistant principal at her school tried to remove her from the girls locker room for wearing a strapless top under a jacket by physically carrying her out while in a chokehold.
Palm Beach County Public School officials may derail a 17-year old high school senior from a college bound track to one in the juvenile justice system due to an incident stemming from a dress code violation. This is consistent with the trend in Florida to over-use suspensions, expulsions, and arrests that result in the needless denial of a quality education and lead students into unforgiving juvenile and criminal justice systems.
