@62747 Sorry, it's what I do. At least I don't waste the meat though.

There is no need for a perch once they get fully comfortable they'll hit the box at over 30 mph and do a backflip when they go inside.

I presume this must be some kind of nesting box. Why doesnt it have A perch to make access easier for her

I've always wondered how they got in there, but I'd shoot them before I could find out. They taste too good.

Thanks, Walter! I think, although I'm no expert, the boxes are made to simulate their natural nesting places, hallowed out tree knots. We crumple up leaves and put them at the bottom of the box. We see them in our trees looking for holes. There are so many Wood Ducks that come from the Vermilion River that's across the street that most of us put up boxes for them. I'm glad we have screens over our chimneys or they'd be coming down into our house! This happened to my brother already.
