Take a step back in time on an overcast late December day... Ride home for the holidays as you peer out of the front window of a classic interurban as it departs its second to last stop to head to its final stop in the car barn for the holidays. And a long winter's rest...
In reality, you are riding on the New York Museum of Transportation's 2009 Holly Trolley rides as the NYMT's ex-Philadelphia & Western interurban #161 departs from the current end of wire to return to the NYMT.
Thanks to all of those who visited us this year. Trolley operations in conjunction with diesel powered trains from the Rochester & Genesee Valley Railroad Museum will restart in May 2010. Now off to the car barn for some maintenance...
Happy Holidays!
That whistle needs to be tuned up.

Ahh, what memories. On Saturday afternoons I used to ride "60" cars on the P&W line. There was this young operator who liked the "60" cars to the Bullets because he liked to stand up where you were forced to sit down with the Bullets. Although the Bullets were faster the 60-cars were smoother-riding because they were much heavier. The sound of the traction motors and the air/clicking sounds in the cab are 60-car hallmarks. There will never be another MU passenger car like the Strafford-type.
