saxi800m is right... Jesus doesn't tell us that turning the other cheek is an option.. he says "turn the other cheek", and when he says love your enemies he doesn't mean, well you can kill them when they endanger your family and your country... he says "love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you" and he finishes it with "Be perfect, therefore, as your Heavenly Father is perfect" which confirms all question of violence or hatred. it is wrong.

the reason Jesus told him not to cut off his ear was not only that, but also that they were outnumbered. the bible permits us to do violence in war, and to protect ourselves in self defense. but like i said, u only kill in the name of God if God actually tells you to do so like he did in the OT. i was unclear originally. plus i didnt even watch this vid. ha.

violence is evil. there is no way it is not evil. where have Christians before Constantine ever used a sword to defend themselves? The first time I ever hear of it is in the Crusades and those were a waste of resources for the Christian Europeans and an evil testimony to the Muslims. Also in that case they didn't defend themselves, they started it. The OT is valid but we in Jeremiah, God says that he will now judge individuals, not nations. A nation defended itself because thats how God

used Israel, as a nation. But now its not about nations. Its about an individual judgement if we choose to not follow Jesus. Also, the problem with wars, is there is never a clearly right side in them after the time of Israel. Americans kill innocent civilians, Muslims do the same. Neither is right. And if we follow Jesus and we love our enemies first, pray for them and aid them then how is there anything left to fight them? if you say war is right how are you different from a Muslim?

Lastly it is clear that in Genesis God Himself says that violence is evil. It may have been necessary when God ordained for Israel to be a nation but when it comes to violence by human hands he abhors it. He tells Noah after the flood that killing a human is always wrong because every man is made in the image of God and it is profaning God's image. Also David was restricted from holy things for his bloodshed (building a temple). Also if we take it literally as you say then why does Jesus

tell Peter to put the sword down and not to fight? And what happens when we take up our cross? And what happens when we turn the other cheek? What happens then? We can't fight then. How is it different? You want to take it literally? Then why aren't you sacrificing animals? Or why aren't you sitting outside of camp for days at a time? Are you eating kosher? Why not? why would God make people to kill them? If he says one thing and another thing that "oppose each other" how do you reconcile them?

it also says in the Bible that we are not to wear mixed fabrics, and to abstain from eating blood. it also tells us we should be circumsised amongst other things.

now im guessing you dont agree that we as Christians shouldnt be bound to such laws. why on earth then, do you use the O.T. to then justify war?
