Raising the tax on cigarettes has always been an option. But the higher you raise the tax the less
people smoke ( other than Barrack Obama). Thus revenues go down. In Canada they have no
anti Smoking program because that would be a bigger strain on their health care system.
You see you wait months for tests and operations..so you die off before you can cost society.
Until teachers are willing to be judged on performance we are just throwing money against the tides.
Teachers have IRON CLAD pension plans.
Good for them.. All we need are more saps like us to pay for them and other state and federal workers.

  • When a society has to tax Vices and run lotteries, we have come to the end of the road. There is no escape from the fact that our experiment in Freedom is a failure.

  • This is a BAD idea! Whats gonna happen to this tax money when all the smokers quit cause they cant afford to pay these ridiculous prices?

  • hahahaha tabacoo seeds are cheap guys..if you want to smoke..just grow it..dont pay them a cent. I thought those tax increases were supposed to save our lives, forcing us to quit? Now its just for funding..it is addictive..figures the state would take advantage of that, just like the drug dealers do.

  • They are moaning about taxing soft drinks.

I bet that beer might be healthier than coke.

No they want to force me to by a health insurance policy they want. They won't allow

us to take GW Bush's advice and start

medical savigs accounts with high deductible health insurance policies.

Where is Bush? What does he say about this? Nothing.. thanks for your comments.

  • How about targeting beer & alcohol for outrageous taxes instead of always targeting smokers whenever there is a financial shortfall somewhere? We have plenty of drunks in Ohio...make them pay $10 for a beer. That might even put Ohio in the black real quick. Sick & tired of having taxes jacked up on smokes. Enough is enough!
