Joan Baez in Sarajevo, April 1993. Real footage. The song played is "Stones in the Road". The cellist playing in the street, towards the end of the video, is Vedran Smailovic, "the cellist of Sarajevo". (For further reference: http://www.appleseedrec.com/sarajevo/vedran/ )

  • This is yet another part of the PBS special that blew me away. Wish you had included the part where Joan is taking the chair from Vedran and singing a capella, 'Amazing Grace'....but thanks anyway.

  • I do not have that part. This is not taken from the PBS special (released I think in October this year) but from a much older material.

  • Sarajevo needed weapons to defend its people not Joan Baez.

Forgive us Bosnia for having abbandoned you when you needed our help.

    Europe failed

  • Sarajevo needed wise people, not weapons. The whole world failed Sarajevo. And so many other places...

  • @herrgolf I agree they didn't want a " muslim" country in the heart of europe

  • @VALDIGNE Europe didn't fail. Europe encouraged this.

  • watch and learn. I feel Sarajevo, in cry and smile

  • @VALDIGNE Europe failed but not Joan Baez. Nobody needs a weapon. There is no war which we can win. Fuck You United Nothing!

  • I'm proud that my hometown is Sarajevo. I was there all those years and everytime I see that cellist I cry, because he reminds me how strong and vulnerable we were in the same time.

  • @ignatei

what your are aware of is wrong.Read their presidents islamic declaration then you might understand why Serbians in bosna had to fight these jihadists. Also look up muhadjadeen in bosnia on you tube to see who Serbs were fighting in Bosna .Alot of the secular bosnjaks faught under fikret abdic alongside Serbs against these jihadists that america supported

  • @dragszes I've never said they fought for secularism, I said the majority of them are secular. Furthermore they were not fighting for an Islamic republic either, as far as I'm aware of.

  • @ignatei

being secular isnt what they were fighting for.Maybe you you should read up abit on the history before you teach.

  • @dragszes those people arent "jihadists" you twat. I know those people.
