My parents used to play this in the car on the way to school, one of the only reasons I liked going. I only remembered it recently at it just brought back so many memories. Thank you Donovan. :)

Il ne l'a pas repris. Il c'est servi d'un des plus grand titres et des plus grands airs de l'histoire pour se faire des thunes. C'est minable. La chanson qui en est sorti est merdique a souhait.

Listening to Donovan here is like getting back to my youth and good memories from past time long ago, still stay in my mind of hopes of a better world!

As far as i am aware there is no hidden meaning, it's a Yiddish theater song about a calf being sent to slaughter, sung beautifully by Donovan. Simple as that.
