a sorry general sent an american division to their deaths. there was so many wounded soldiers of both sides that they had a truce so they could help the wounded. then went back to killin each other.

The anniversary of the Bulge is coming up again. I still remember how I felt. Scared, hungry, tired, and praying to survive. It was so cold. Gramps

When you look at the state of Europe today, they died for nothing, Europe is ruled by dictators...

I served in the 28th Inf in 1980 as PAARNG in the 103rd Medical Battalion. We used to talk about and honor the sacrifice of the buckets that served during WWI. Eventhough we served in peacetime much later, we were proud to wear the same keystone, HF is part of the lore that we inherited. Thank you on behalf of me and mine.

My Dad fought in this battle and was captured here. He spent 6 months as a POW afterwards. I visited this area in his memory last year. Beautiful and peaceful, hiked from Schmidt down to Vossenack and back again. What a place

Noticed you replied about three months ago. Anyway, much respect to your grandfather, even more so because he was involved in that fight. I could tell it was very brutal fighting there. Unfortunely, it was overshadowed by the Battle Of The Budge. I admit, i didn't know anything about it until I saw the movie ' When Truimpets fade"
